History of the current Coat of arms of Balmazújváros can be traced back to the XV. century. There was a seal of which crest-image has been added to the facade of City Hall in 1911. Unfortunately, the original stamp destroyed in World War II. The armorially full arms was approved in 1989.
Description: The lower third of the cutted shield is a green field on which the Bustard stands three wheats ("life") holding in its feet. (The Bustard (Otis tarda) is the legendary bird of Great European steppes, now unfortunately almost extinct.) Above its crest and crown the three wheats are repeated. The helmet-shape is from the XV. century and this proves as well the age of the arms. The helmet-covers are blue-gold from right and, silver-red from the left side.
