The number of inhabitants of Balmazújváros is 18600 at present. The town is situated 20 kms from Debrecen, and it has exceptionally good features. It is located 8 kms from Interstate M3 which connects the town to Budapest through less than 200 kms of comfortable ride. The comfort and well-being of its inhabitants are particulary important for the local government; the public utility supply of the town is practically complete, and 90 % of the roads are paved. Nearly 100% of the 6500 inhabited properties of Balmazújváros have complete utility supply (water, gas, electricity). Each property is part of a cable network, the most significant of which is Balmazintercom, a cable TV and internet company, which is operated by the 100% local government owned First Trustee and Developer Ltd.
There are 1100 businesses in the town. The local government aims to concentrate the existing and prospective industrial enterprises into two territories: an existing area in the northwestern border of town, while the other one will be a separate industrial zone next to the service road of Interstate M3.

The local government possesses properties that could be used for multiple purposes. Their utilization can be realized in accordance with the operative resettlement conception.

Since 2008 the town of Balmazújváros has organized its local goverment owned businesses into one holding-structured economic company, the First Trustee and Developer Ltd.

The holding, as the 100% owner of all three companies, manages the local government’s market-based property elements.
Balmazintercom Ltd. is the city’s largest cable TV and internet company, Halomalja Ltd. is one of the region’s most significant agricultural enterprises, and the Városgazdálkodási Ltd. is the operator of the entire city institution network, the local government tenement flats, and the public grounds. One of its most significant function is the overall operation of the Thermal Bath and Swimming Pool of Balmazújváros.
